Barbara Reeves Till of Peachtree City, Ga. passed away on October 30, 2016.
Born in Atlanta, Ga. to George Emory “Jelly” and Evelyn Patrick Reeves, Barbara graduated from Brown High School, followed by attending business school, Massey-Draughn. She retired from the Department of Army as a Contracting Officer for FORSCOM at Fort McPherson, Ga. A career highlight was briefing the “Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff” of our U.S. Armed Forces, for Desert Shield. Her early career also spanned the Federal Aviation Administration, The Small Business Association, and the Department of Energy.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 62 years Sam J. Till; her son, Kevin Till and his wife Julie of Fayetteville, Ga.; her daughter Keron Witcher and her husband Robert of Duluth, Ga. and three grandchildren Brandon, Jordan and Peyton Witcher, all of Duluth, Ga. In addition to her parents Barbara was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Kerri Leigh Till in 2010. Kerri was a special daughter and her challenges sparked Barbara to become very involved in “special needs” education and development first in Fulton County, and later in Fayette County, Ga. Barbara helped pioneer programs designed to help many children born with challenges in Georgia. Kerri would be a part of their lives for her 52 years, and was always a “happy kid,” as Barbara used to say. After retiring, Barbara, Sam and Kerri moved to Venice Golf and Country Club in Venice, Fla. where they enjoyed 20 wonderfully active years of golf and the beach, all with daughter Kerri by their side and truly enjoying the retirement life. Three years ago Barbara and Sam moved back to Georgia and settled in Peachtree City. Barbara was very active in New Neighbor League of Peachtree City and PTC United Methodist Church. She never knew how not to become involved in her community.
We celebrate and honor the life of Barbara at her funeral service to be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Carl J. Mowell Funeral Home in Peachtree City. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
