Martha Elizabeth Brundage Boynton went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, October 23, 2016. “Mimi” as she was known by those who loved her, was born during prayer meeting on May 21, 1924 in Macon, Ga. to the late Jesse and Maude Brundage. In 1941 she met the love of her life, Clarence Ethridge “Pappy” Boynton, as he was visiting from Mercer University with his friend and her late brother, Gene Brundage. Pappy saw Mimi’s picture on the mantle and exclaimed “I am going to marry her!” He swept Mimi off of her feet and they were married March 22, 1943, a marriage that would last for over 73 years.

With their two sons, Mike and Ridge, they enjoyed a “Leave it to Beaver” lifestyle in Newton Estates in College Park, Ga. Mimi worked for 26 years at Fort McPherson in East Point hiring teachers to send to schools abroad. While employed, she was awarded from the Department of the Army the Declaration for Meritorious Civilian Service. Gardening was her passion in life. Being in the yard, digging in the dirt brought her great joy! She was a charter member of the College Park Garden Club, and a lifetime member of the Old Town Sharpsburg Garden Club.

Mimi was a long time member of Peachtree City First Baptist Church. Her faith was evident throughout her life in the way that she lived and treated all those she knew and loved. Mimi’s faith is the legacy that she leaves to her family.

Mimi is survived by her husband, Pappy Boynton; her sons, Mike (Margaret) and Ridge (Sherry); her grandchildren Chris (Nina), Brian, Joy, Brittan (Joey), and Charlie; her great-grandchildren McKenzie, Parker, Katrina, and Layla; her brothers in law, Bill Boynton and Jim Hall (Bonnie) and sister in law Jeanne Hall; also nieces Cindy Brundage, Tracey Boyd, Kelley Brundage and Lynne Jackson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Maude Brundage; her sister Sarah Jo Kelley; and her brother Gene Brundage.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 26th from 5-7 p.m. at Mowell Funeral Home in Peachtree City. The funeral services will be held at Peachtree City First Baptist Church on Thursday, October 27th at 11 a.m. with a visitation from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manna Ministry at Peachtree City First Baptist Church.
