Burn ban extended

Due to the ongoing severe drought conditions, the Peachtree City Fire Marshal’s Office has determined that temporary restrictions on outdoor burning are necessary.

No burn permits will be issued until the drought conditions improve, according to county officials.

It is illegal to dump yard debris in greenbelt areas. Residents are encouraged to use the city’s Recycling Center on Rockaway Road to dispose of leaves, pine needles, and yard debris.

“While we understand this is an inconvenience to those citizens who have no other way to dispose of leaves, it is hopefully short-term restriction,” according to a spokesperson. “The ban is necessary to prevent brush fires from developing and spreading, which has already happened on multiple occasions since the state ban on outdoor burning ended Oct. 1.”
