Stephen John Feit, 90, passed away on September 17, 2016.
He is survived by three daughters Claudia Phillips, Amanda Gainer and Suzanne (David) Norman as well as grandsons Keenan Phillips, Elliott Phillips, Griffin Gainer and Troy Gainer, and great grandson Julian Phillips.
Born in 1926 and raised in New York, he was primarily an educator. After a short stint in the US Air Force, he spent the next 44 years of his life serving children. He moved his young family overseas before finally settling in Georgia in the 1970’s. He was the principal of Turner Elementary School in Albany for 20 years before retiring in 1994 and moving to Fayetteville where he volunteered at Piedmont Hospital and actively helped raise his grandsons.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Patricia Anne Scherff Feit.
He donated his body to the Medical College of Georgia so that he might continue to educate even after his death. Please send any contributions on his behalf to Office of Advancement, Augusta University, 1120 15th Street, Augusta, Ga. 30912.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, October 8 at 2 p.m. at Golden Crest Assisted Living facility, 2160 Lake Harbin Road, Morrow, Ga. 30261. Join us in body or spirit as we remember a life well lived.
