Stephen Hopkin Norris, age 75, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Avalon Health and Rehab in Newnan Ga. surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 10, 1941 in Atlanta, Ga. to the late Paul Norris and Ruth McDowell Norris.
In 1964 Stephen graduated from West Georgia College with a Bachelors Degree in Science. Shortly after that he attended Middle Tennessee State University and graduated with a master’s degree in education. He was a loyal Atlanta Brave’s fan and in 1967 he was inducted into the 400 Club. He also was awarded Coach of the Year by the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association. After 29 and a half years he retired from Delta in 2000.
Stephen is survived by his loving wife Sandra Norris and their son Shane and his wife Beth Norris. He is also survived by grandchildren, Haley Norris, Sara Beth Turner, Emma Turner and siblings Ryan Norris and his wife Janette, Alan Norris and his wife Sharon and numerous nieces and nephews.
The memorial service is Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Pastor Alex Ward officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until service time on Thursday at McKoon Funeral Home.
