James P. Cocos, senior manager of horticulture at the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis, will be the guest speaker at the next Fayette Master Gardener Association Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 10 a.m. at the Bridge, 225 Willow Bend Road in Peachtree City.
Cocos oversees much of the outdoor operations, conservatories, greenhouse operations and off-site properties of the Botanical Garden. He has a bachelor of science in agriculture (majored in horticulture) from the University of Missouri and has been with the Missouri Botanical Garden in various positions since 1994. He is also a ISA-certified arborist and is a State of Missouri certified pesticide applicator.
Cocos is a board member of several national and regional horticultural associations. He will explain what it takes to run a large and successful botanical garden.
The lecture is 10-11 a.m., is open to the public and is free of charge.
