Mildred Opal Davis Swygert, 96, passed away on September 6, 2016 at Insignia of Newnan.
She was a life-long resident of Clayton and Fayette Counties and a 1936 graduate of Fayette County High School. She was the widow of George Render Swygert, Sr. She was born on November 23, 1919 in Clayton County, the eldest child of Willie Paul and Victoria Smith Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, Robert, and siblings, Pauline Boyd, Edward Davis, Jerry Davis and grandchild Dr. Scott Swygert. Mildred is survived by a daughter, Gloria Jane Westberry (Jack); sons, Render Swygert (Peggy) and Vernon Swygert (Linda); special nephew, Don Scott (Carrol); six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Inez White, Joyce Babb (William), Dean Davis (Joyce) and sister-in-law, Harriett Davis; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville Chapel, with Dr. Davis Campbell and Rev. Carolyn Clifton officiating. Interment followed the service at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church Cemetery, Riverdale, Ga. The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2016 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, Fayetteville, Ga.
