Betty Molyneaux Carothers, 69, of Peachtree City, Ga. and formally of Bardstown, passed away Saturday September 3, 2016 at her residence.
She was born January 10, 1947 in Louisville, a teacher, sales person, and flight attendant. Betty was the first president of Alpha Delta Pi at Eastern Kentucky University, won numerous tennis and golf championships, skilled at match making, finding job opportunities for others, and playing slots. Betty was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Y. Molyneaux and Grace Hamilton Molyneaux; and sister, Sara Kathryn Molyneaux.
She is survived by her husband, James “Jimmy” Carothers Jr. of Peachtree City, Ga.; son, James “Judge” (Jessica Payne) Carothers of Louisville; daughter, Kate (Mitch) Smith of Bardstown; four grandchildren, Freeman Smith, Felix Smith, Knox Carothers, and Trenten Rapp; sister, Julia Ann (Guthrie) Wilson of Bardstown; and two brothers, Captain Charles Yale (Joan) Molyneaux Jr. of Charleston, S.C., and Richard Lee (Donna) Molyneaux of Bardstown.
Her funeral service will be noon Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Barlow Funeral Home, with burial in Bardstown Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday September 7 at Barlow Funeral Home.
