Syble Sweat, of Peachtree City and Barrow County, Ga., passed away on August 18, 2016, at the age of 88. Everyone simply called her “Mom” and she was happiest when surrounded by her family or talking endlessly about them when anyone asked.
Syble was preceded in death by her mother, Dora Robinson, her brothers, Frankie Robinson and Albert Smith, all of Barrow County; and her granddaughters Melanie Sweat and Hannah Caldwell.
She is survived by her brother, Joe (Jackie) Robinson of Barrow County.
Syble is survived by her seven children and was blessed to have them all live within an hour’s drive: Denny (Sheila) Sweat of Milledgeville; Connie Duran of Brookhaven; Jane (Randy) Rape of McDonough; Susan (Mike) Rhodes of Jonesboro; Donald (Laurie) Sweat of Griffin; Deborah Sweat of Peachtree City; and Michael Marie (Michael) McGuire, of Atlanta.
Surviving grandchildren are Darrell, Robert and Kevin Sweat; Ronnie (Daphanie) Caldwell; Bobby (Alli) Rhodes; Taylor Sweat; Katie and Patrick McGuire; Derek and Josh (Amber) Brown; Marcus Rape; Jason (Mary) Steele; and Rachel Durham.
Surviving great-grandchildren are Joe, Jayden and Madison Caldwell; Jon and Ethan Rhodes; Olivia and Aiden Brown; and Christopher, Julia, Zachary and Gregory Steele.
Syble also leaves behind several special friends: Jan Snider, Howard Duran and the Richard family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage at Peachtree and Doctor’s Hospice in Fayetteville for their kindness and compassionate care.
Arrangements were made by Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home & Crematory in Peachtree City. A memorial service for Syble Sweat will be held at a later date.
