The possible names for Peachtree City Police Chief Janet Moon’s two new mini-pigs poured in from across the city in recent weeks. Moon decided to name to two newest residents of Crescent Moon Farm “Patches” and “Peaches.”
It was in July that Moon came up with the idea of having Peachtree City residents provide possible names for the two Juliana mini-pigs that will arrive at her Crescent Moon Farm in September.
“I’m bad with naming so I wanted to go to Facebook,” Moon said in July, explaining that she had more than 250 suggested names.
When it comes to those suggested names, Moon’s Facebook friends offered plenty of possibilities. Among the suggestions are Sherlock and Watson, Ham and Bacon, Oinkster and Spud, Starsky and Hutch, Smith and Wesson, of course, Pigsley and Peaches.
Patches, a male, was born in June 30 followed by the birth of Peaches, a female, in late July. Moon said Patches will arrive at the farm during the first week of September followed by Peaches about three weeks later.
Moon said the little pigs attain a height of 15 inches and weigh in at about 30 pounds.
“Thanks to everyone for all the name suggestions,” Moon said on her Facebook page.
Moon said Patches and Peaches will sometimes make the rounds as part of the department’s community outreach efforts, including with children.
