Retail construction activity in the Fischer Crossing area will soon ramp up. With it, plans were approved Aug. 2 for a design and engineering study to add a right-turn lane on the south side of Fischer Road and Ga. Highway 34.
The Coweta County Commission on Aug. 2 unanimously awarded a $24,950 contract to McGee Partners for the design and engineering of a right-turn lane at Hwy. 34 and Fischer Road that will direct motorists eastward toward Peachtree City.
The design will include a traffic analysis to determine the required length of the right-turn lane, survey of existing topography and all existing drainage structures and utilities in the project area, grading and drainage plans for the project, as well as signing and striping plans for the new lane, pedestrian crossings, and the tie-in to the eastbound travel lane of Hwy. 34, county staff said.
The commission on June 28 approved the development agreement and amended conditions for establishing a 60,000 medical office and 40,000 sq. ft. of retail space on a portion of a 29-acre parcel at the Fischer Crossing retail development on the southwest side of Fischer Road and Ga. Highway 34, directly across Hwy. 34 from the Sam’s Club.
