Mark Edward Sturgill, of Peachtree City, passed away June 28, 2016 at the age of 58.
He was born in Bristol, Va. to Byron and Barbara Sturgill. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He flew for Delta Airlines as an Airline Captain. He attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City. Mark was a deeply devoted husband, father and son. He loved his years as a Delta pilot and was honored to fly for the company. Mark enjoyed fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family at their cabin.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Amy R. Sturgill; parents Byron and Barbara Sturgill of Piney Flats, Tenn.; daughters Jenna (Robert) Hyatt of Vacaville, Calif. and Ellen (Christopher) Cummings of Chattanooga, Tenn.; son Grant Sturgill of Peachtree City; granddaughters Katherine and Claire Hyatt of Vacaville, Calif.; sister Kim (Jeff) Ardell of Los Angeles, Calif.; brothers Phillip (Lisa) Sturgill of Jonesborough, Tenn. and Patrick (Robin) Sturgill of Johnson City, Tenn.; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City. A reception with the family will follow the service. Additionally, the family will hold a funeral service on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 7 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church in Bristol, Va. They will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Susong Cemetery in Bristol.
