Frances Stone Newbern, age 79, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 27, 2016 in Coweta County, Ga.

Frances, a native to McDowell County, was born on July 19, 1936 to the late Arthur and Ruth Stone. Frances lived a rich life and left the small town of North Carolina after high school to work for the FBI. She met Richard “Dick” Tankersley whom she married and had two sons, Larry and Kenny. After Richard’s death she remarried to a Robert “Bob” Newbern and had a daughter, Jamie. She later moved to Peachtree City where she enjoyed her remaining years as a supportive and loving mother. She also loved being with her grandchildren. Frances was a strong, independent woman, who lived to serve her children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren were her everything. Frances was a truly selfless person, who was always doing for others.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William “Bill” Stone.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Larry Tankersley and his wife Mary of Alco, Tenn. and Kenny Tankersley of Senoia, Ga.; a daughter Jamie Newbern Meuninck and her husband Troy of Newnan, Ga.; one brother, Stephen Stone and his wife Sharon of Marietta, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Jack, Shelagh, Katie, Stephanie, William, Lily, and Molly; and two great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday July 6, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Laurel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dean Owenby officiating.
