James (Jim) Leroy Rogers, Jr., of Peachtree City went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at the age of 74.
Jim was born in Hattiesburg, Miss. on March 8, 1942. He graduated from Paris American High School in France while his father was stationed there. He attended the United States Military Academy, West Point, and served in the U. S. Army, then earning his master’s degree from Michigan State University. He retired from the U. S. Forest Service and MAFFS after 30 years. On December 21, 1963 he married Jacquelyn Milner. This amazing relationship produced three children.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James L. Rogers, Sr. and Margaret Currie Rogers; his sister Margaret Rogers Leggat; and his son James Anthony Rogers.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Rogers; son, Adam (Lisa) Rogers; daughter Tiffany (Michael) Stephens; and three grandchildren, Hunter Samples, Avery Rogers, and Addison Rogers, all of Peachtree City.
Jim was a man of faith devoted to his family. He had a servant heart for all and grew great relationships serving with the Peachtree City Auxiliary Police. He enjoyed great camaraderie in traveling with the Atlanta Senior Golf Association. He coached his children and mentored many of the area’s youth during his time volunteering with youth sports leagues.
The celebration of his life will be held Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Peachtree City Christian Church at 2 p.m. He will be buried at Westminster Memorial Gardens in Peachtree City following the service. The family will receive friends and family on June 22, 2016 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Mowell Funeral Home in Peachtree City.
