The Peachtree City Fire Rescue Department has adopted updated elements of their department logo in celebration of this year’s 50th anniversary of the department.
The words “50 Years of Service, 1966 – 2016” are featured against a background that includes images of the original 1949 fire engine and the original department insignia surrounded by the Department’s core values of Service, Honor, Excellence and Integrity as well as the current uniform insignia highlighting the recent award from the Insurance Service Office as a Class One community, its highest rating.
When it was founded, the department was completely staffed by volunteers from the area. As the community grew and the demand for services increased the Peachtree City Fire Department was among the first in Georgia to provide emergency medical services to its citizens. Over the years, the department has grown significantly, now responding to nearly 4,000 emergency calls for service annually using a combination staffing model with full and part time employees as well as volunteers.
Several events are scheduled during the year to commemorate the 50th anniversary. Information about those events will be posted to the Peachtree City Police Department and Peachtree City Fire Rescue Facebook page as well as being listed on the city’s website.
This year’s Independence Day parade will honor six of the original founding members of the department who will serve as grand marshals.
