Lacrosse squad wins state


The Starr’s Mill Panthers junior select lacrosse team has earned the title of GMSAA state champions for 2016 in the boys junior select division. 

The Panthers drove out the Roswell Hornets with a 15-12 win in the championship game May 8 at Walton High School. 

The Starr’s Mill junior select team, which includes middle school boys in grades 6-7, waived all home games to join the North Atlanta GMSAA league for the 2016 spring season. The league mainly includes schools in Cobb County, and is used as a feeder league to the county’s high schools. 

Coached by Joe Lopez and ShaneJones, the team closed out a 16-0 season with the win in the championship game.

Team members include Eric Fewell, Jack Dunn, Gabe Lopez, Noah Montondo, Archer Eubanks, Cole Bishop, Rhett Jones, Barrett Schmidlkofer, Trip Eubanks, Cooper Kleppinger, Luke Rusterruci, Bennett Via, Joseph Rampey, Shane Kelly, Nate Mitchell, Thomson Cummings, William Bingham and Vee Holcomb.
