Project Linus Blanketeers at Community Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) are seeking volunteers and supplies for their project of providing blankets for infants in the NICU at Piedmont-Fayette Hospital and various charitable causes around the county. The group meets the first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. until noon at the church, 349 Kenwood Rd., Fayetteville.

These blanketeers cut, fringe, and tie fleece blankets. Blankets are also crocheted, knit, sewn, and quilted. The quilted blankets are given to the NICU at Piedmont Fayette Hospital.

Flannel receiving blankets are given to the Pregnancy Resource Center.

DFACS, Promise Place, Bloom Closet, and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department also receive blankets made by the group. The blankets are given to children up to 18 years of age who have had some type of trauma or illness.

Scraps of material are donated to a woman who makes dog and cat beds for animal shelters.

Volunteers are welcome. Sewing skills are not required.

Project Linus also has an immediate need for donations of yarn to be used for afghans made by the knitters and crocheters. To donate yarn, contact the group coordinator, Shirley Avery, 770-487-8974 between the hours of  10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. to make arrangements to drop off yarn or fabric. Fleece, flannel, and yarn are always needed. Monetary donations also are welcome.
