George Kadel, 90, of Peachtree City, passed away April 27, 2016. He was born on April 20, 1926 to Amanda and John Kadel. He was raised in Mamaroneck, N.Y. as the youngest of six siblings and lived on the 5th hole at Winged Foot Golf Club, where he was the Junior Club Champion at the age of 15.
George attended The Lawrenceville School in New Jersey where he was president of his class and graduated in 1944. Following graduation he joined the army where he was a weapons instructor. After the war, he attended Yale University where he met the love of his life. He graduated from Yale in 1950 and married Greta Volk soon after.
George joined Bankers Trust Company and was appointed the youngest trust officer two years later. He had a very successful 26 years and headed The Pension Investment Division, the 2nd largest pension fund manager at the time. He and Greta raised their four children Ken, Kathy, Karen, and Kristine, in Summit, N.J. In 1976, he moved to Chicago to head The Trust Investment Department at LaSalle National Bank. After seven successful years, he left the bank to begin a new career with Montgomery Securities in San Francisco. After retiring in 1991, he and Greta moved to Peachtree City to be near his closest sibling, Mildred. He was active in local politics, the United Methodist Church, enjoyed golf, duplicate bridge, his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and most of all, sharing his life with Greta.
George is survived by his wife Greta and his three remaining children, Ken, Kathy and Kristine, nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Peachtree City United Methodist Church in Peachtree City. Dr. Steve Dodson will officiate.
