Activities this week at local stations

The final week of National County Government Month includes a number of family activities scheduled at fire stations throughout Coweta County – one each night the week of April 25-29. Each evening event is scheduled for 5-7 p.m.

Monday night’s session was at Station 6 in Newnan, with an inflatable fire safety house and fire safety instruction along with a Training Division Q&A.

Tuesday night’s meeting is at Station 8, 689 Dixon Road in Newnan. There will be rescue equipment on display such as a boat, wave runners, Viking and heavy rescue. Also planned is an extrication demo, and there will be a firefighter Q&A.

Wednesday night at Station 12, 45 Ebenezer Church Road in Newnan, will include a hazardous materials response demonstration and a firefighter Q&A.

Thursday night at Station 1, 483 Turkey Creek Road in Newnan, there will be an emergency medical service demo (ambulances, Lucus demo, stroke care, call volume, training, cross training, classroom, etc.) and a firefighter Q&A.

Friday night’s meeting is at Station 7, 3370 Fischer Road in Newnan. On display will be firefighting hand tools, hydraulic tools and an equipment demonstration (thermal imaging camera). There will be a “show and discuss” (tanker, engine, ladder, rescue, hazmat, ambulance, Viking, brush truck) as well as a firefighter Q&A.

At each of these activities, attendees are invited to bring their questions about careers, smoke detectors, Youth Fire Explorers, equipment and more.
