Zombies from “The Walking Dead” will soon be joined in Senoia by the cast and crew of “Rainy Season,” a fully-authorized film adaptation of the story by Stephen King.
The film is an adaptation written by executive producer Vanessa Wright and is based on the short story, “Rainy Season,” by Stephen King.
Wright said the story follows a young couple who arrive in Willow, Maine. After repeated warnings from town locals to leave, the couple stays and learns the horrific price the town must pay for prosperity. Every seven years the rainy season descends on Willow in a downpour of vicious, man-eating toads. The newest inhabitants of the town are then sacrificed and suffer the deadly consequences, Wright said.
Producers of the film are hosting a “Red Carpet” event to raise money for the film. The event will be held at the Senoia Coffee and Cafe on June 18 from 7-10 p.m. A silent auction with items from local businesses will be included in the event.
A production of Above the Line Artistry LLC, the film will be directed by Grant McGowan of Pinch ‘N Ouch Theatre in Atlanta and filmed by cinematographer Mark Simon of Fizz City Films.
Filming will begin in the fall and, after its completion, the film will be shown at film festivals worldwide, Wright said.
