McIntosh and Starr’s Mill will pay respects to veterans and first responders of the Peachtree City area during the annual Battle for the Troops, an event that coincides with the next installment of the schools’ longtime soccer rivalry.
The games are Friday, April 15, at the Starr’s Mill stadium. The varsity girls kick off at 6 p.m. and the varsity boys begin play at 8. There will be a special ceremony immediately following the girls’ game.
The Starr’s Mill teams have been raising funds and are making available Battle for the Troops T-shirts. All proceeds are being donated to Wounded Warriors and the Peachtree City Police Auxiliary.
“Fayette County first responders and their families along with veterans from the community have been invited to attend a reception featuring TCBY and Firehouse subs, followed by a ceremony where the players from both schools will have an opportunity to express their appreciation for these dedicated men and women,” according to a spokesperson.
