Donald W. Fruit, 78, of Peachtree City passed away on March 29, 2016. He was born in Hapeville, Ga. on April 2, 1937 to Harry Elon Fruit and Wilma Fuller Fruit.
He lived in Miami until around the age of 12 and then moved back to Hapeville and graduated from Hapeville High School. He served in the U. S. Air Force and then went to work for Delta Airlines until his retirement after 33 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, fishing, kayaking, and cycling.
He was a devoted husband to Carleene Teague Fruit for 44 years until her death in 2004, and then to his current wife, Jan Fruit. He is survived by his children Todd Fruit (Terri), Maribeth Fruit Redwine (Carlton), and Laura Fruit Jones (Stephen); eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 4 p.m. at Mowell Funeral Home in Peachtree City. Rev. Chris Sewall officiated. The family received friends from 2:30 until 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
