Hazel Britt Mitchell, 95, of Fayetteville passed away on March 26, 2016.  She was born in Lawrenceville, Ga. on March 11, 1921 to William and Ida Britt.    She was very active in her church, Fayetteville First United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was a very spiritual, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Claude Mitchell and her parents.

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her daughters, Virginia Brewton (Jim) and Melanie Ward (Mike); her grandchildren, Drs. Britt Brewton Drake (Dan), Beau James Brewton (Hallie), McKenzie Ward Ulloa (Javier), and Hayley Ward Johnson (Kramer); her great-grandchildren, James and Mitchell Drake, Emery and Cameron Johnson, Kaylynn Brewton, and Blakely Ulloa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Chaplain Ken Rose. Burial will immediately follow the service at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, Ga.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

One of Mrs. Mitchell’s passions was to maintain older cemeteries that do not have a caretaker. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to Friendship Primitive Baptist Cemetery Fund, c/o Donna Bishop, 1660 Apalachee Road, Madison, Ga. 30650 to keep this work going.
