Thornton W. Cutler, LTC (Ret) U.S. Army; changed duty stations, as he passed away on March 23, 2016.  

He was born in Lowell, Mass., May 4, 1935, and graduated from Lowell High School. He entered the army as a private and retired with over twenty-one years of service in 1975. He had tours in Korea, Vietnam, and three tours in Germany during the Cold War. He earned 2 Bronze Stars, 3 Meritorious Service Medals, Air Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. He also held 7 service medals and a Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm.

He was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Military Officers Association and a 54 year Mason.

He was predeceased by son CPT (Ret) Thornton W. Cutler, Jr., and  is survived by his wife Marcia Ann Gordy Cutler;  daughter  Virginia Cutler Cook (Joe); grandchildren Whitney M. Cutler, Nathaniel G. Cutler, Joseph R. Cook, and Peter E. Cook; brother CSM (Ret)  William A. Cutler; sister Mary Jane Mayotte (Paul) and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a private graveside service at Park Hill Cemetery in Columbus, Ga., with Military Honors and Masonic Ceremony.  

A memorial service for friends and family will be held in the chapel of Mowell & Son Funeral Home in Peachtree City on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 3 p.m.  Rev. Bob Tyler will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m..
