Judy Elizabeth Tucker Moye Smith passed away in her sleep on February 28, 2016.

She was a native to Georgia, and enjoyed her youth in Fulton and DeKalb County with her parents, Judge Clyde Wesley Henley and Elizabeth Urban Henley.

Judy grew up with her sister, Barbara Hodges, who she loved very much and enjoyed having lengthy conversations with her until her last days. Judy attended Atlanta Public Schools where she met her first husband, Robert Arnold Tucker. She continued her education at the Piedmont School of Nursing where she received her nursing degree. From her marriage to Arnold Tucker, she was blessed with three children: Paige, Priscilla, and Matt who kept her busy for the next 40 years.  

As her journey continued, she met and married her second husband Alex Moye. They were married for 25 years until he passed away in 2005.  From this marriage, Judy was able to travel the world abroad and still find time to create successful businesses: JAM Bonding Co, Inc., Southern Police Dog Academy, and JAM Loan Company. Judy became one of the south-sides last female Democratic Senators for the 34th district in the 1990s, in addition to working with other bail bonding professionals to found the Georgia Association of Professional Bondsmen. After completing these endeavors, Judy still continued to give to her community through her interest in Emergency Medical Services and successfully completed school to join the EMT department here in Fayette County.

Later in life, she married James Frank Smith who unfortunately passed away in January of this year.  Throughout her life, Judy continued doing what she loved which included traveling, having big family get-togethers, and spoiling the grandchildren.

Judy is survived by her sister, Barbara Hodges, her three children Paige Needling, Pricilla Henry and Matt Tucker, and their spouses Scott Needling, Ted Henry and Alicia Tucker, as well as her stepchildren Beth Whitson and Willena Moye and her late husbandís children, Colby, John and Jim and their spouses.  Her grandchildren included Connor and Brooke Needling, Parker and Meredith Henry, Heather and Matthew Tucker II, as well as John and Ashley Williams, Emily Whitson, Micaela Arnott, Emily Smith, Jim Kelly Smith, Abigail Smith, Michael Smith, and her great granddaughter Juliet Williams.

Judy’s funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2016 in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Pastor Dee Shellnut officiating.  Interment will be immediately following the service at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2016. Please join us in celebrating the life and accomplishments of Judy Moye Smith as she continues her travels to Heaven, where she will join with her family and friends.
