Special Olympians win on slopes

Four Fayette County Special Olympics athletes traveled to Boone, N.C., Feb. 7-10 for the Southeastern Alpine Ski Competition.

A number of the county’s masters athletes (age 22 and older) competed Feb. 5 in the area masters bowling competition in Newnan. Many athletes bowled record scores.

Top finishers included:

Keenan Allen – second place.

John Butler – third place.

Libby Chesnut – second place.

Buddy Croft – fourth place.

Phillip Evans – third place.

Eddie Griffin – second place.

Michelle Huff – second place.

Ben Isbell – second place.

Cory LaMonde – second place.

Joey Martin – third place.

Tyson Smith – second place.

Amber Tino – third place.

Jon Vicha – first place.

Shannon Waldrop – fourth place.

David Washburn – third place.

The next local Special Olympics competition is the track and field meet scheduled for Wednesday, March 23, at Starr’s Mill High School.
