Candidate Academy is Feb. 23

The Fayette Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Candidate Academy Tuesday, Feb. 23 1:30-5 p.m. for individuals who are running or may be interested in running for local, state or federal elected office. The goal of the program is provide information to candidates considering office as well as tips for incumbents choosing to participate.

This program is a non-partisan, non-political resource open for all Fayette County citizens who may be interested in seeking elected office. There is no charge to attend but registration is required.

The half-day program will cover candidate filing requirements, ethics compliance, roles and responsibilities at the local, state and federal levels and the components of a successful campaign. Attendees will hear from speakers with expertise in each subject area, including former state Sen. Ronnie Chance, The Hudson Group; Tom Sawyer, Fayette County Board of Elections; and Maria Bazile, Georgia State Ethics Commission.

“The Chamber is pleased to provide this education opportunity for all Fayette citizens who are considering important leadership roles in our community,” said Debbie Britt of Piedmont Fayette Hospital, the 2016 Chamber Board Chair. “Our goal is to encourage community engagement to benefit the future of Fayette County.”
