Mr. Charles Denver Dewberry, 89, of Fayetteville, Ga. passed away on Friday, February 5, 2016 after a brief illness. He was born in Temple, Ga. on June 18, 1926 to Benjamin Ralph Dewberry and Ovie Baxter Dewberry.

Charles was a WWII Veteran and Purple Heart recipient. He entered the military in October, 1944 and was a member of Patton’s 3rd Army. He was injured in Germany in April, 1945 and received an Honorable Discharge in 1946. He accepted a job at Ft. Gillem as a Civilian in Commissary Management in 1947. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Georgia State University in 1957.

In the mid 1970’s he began a career in real estate and was associate broker with Tri-City Realty in Fayetteville, Ga. In 1980, he opened Pacesetter Realty and Builders, where he worked until his retirement in 2008. He was a past president of the Fayette County Board of Realtors and was involved in many civic organizations throughout his career. He was a life-long member of Grace United Methodist Church in Atlanta.  

He was married to Laurell Bennett on April 19, 1950. She preceded him in death on October 27, 2012. Charles is survived by his daughter, Pamela Nivens and son-in-law Denney Nivens of Fayetteville, Ga.; his grandson Brandon Byrd (Brian) of Atlanta, Ga.; granddaughter Bethany Taggart (Bobby) and great grandsons Tripp and Ryan Taggart of Fort Mill, S.C.  

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Carl J Mowell and Son, Peachtree City, Ga. with Pastor Miriam Beecher officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City, Ga. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
