The Senoia Area Blood Drive is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 1, 1-6 p.m. at the Senoia United Methodist Church, 229 Bridge Street. It is sponsored by the church and the Senoia Optimist Club.
It is anticipated that those who donated at the Optimist Club’s last blood drive will be personally notified about the upcoming effort and given the opportunity to schedule their appointments to better meet their needs. If necessary, potential donors may either sign up at www.redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). In addition, Senoia Optimist Club member and blood drive coordinator Ellen Ingram may be contacted at 770-842-4533. Please remember, too, that walk-ins are always welcome at these drives.
Donors are asked to bring one or more non-perishable food items. The Optimist Club members will collect these items and make them available to a local food bank in order to help those around us who are in need.
It’s important that donors give regularly so blood products of all types are available whenever and wherever they’re needed. Your donation can help ensure a sufficient supply for patients close to home or in other areas. Please make your plans to help at this important event.
Most healthy people age 17 and older or 16 with parental consent, who weigh at least 110 pounds, are eligible to donate blood. A single pint of blood can be safely donated every 56 days, and this important opportunity will allow the citizens in and around the Senoia area to once again rise to the need.
