Malard (Muddy) G. Waters, Jr., 88, of Newnan passed away on December 27, 2015.  

A Brewton, Ala. native, he was born June 9, 1927 in Chicago, Ill.  He graduated from W.S. Neal High School (Brewton) in 1944.  He attended Samford University, Birmingham (Class of 1950).  Muddy served in the U.S. Navy in World War II on a Mine Sweeper.  He was a certified electrician from his Navy service and Coyne Electrical School.  He worked for Echlin, Inc. (NAPA) in the Engine Parts Division. He retired to Navarre, Fla. on November 2, 1985 from Echlin as National Marketing Manager with 29 years of service.  

Muddy was predeceased by his beloved wife, Eloise F. Waters; granddaughter Lori Marsengill Lamneck; his brother Matt C. Waters; and his parents, M.G. and Annie C. Waters.  

He is survived by two daughters, Vickie Waters Roberts (Jimmy), Gail Waters Marsengill (Dennis); his sister, Martha Waters Simmons (Aquilla); four grandchildren, Jeff Roberts (Evelyn), Jennifer Roberts Kariharan (Hari), Sara Marsengill Clair (Scott) and Jill Roberts Hobbs (Greg); nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.  

His funeral service was at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville Chapel, with Rev. Lee Ayers officiating.  Interment immediately followed the service at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. The family received friends before the service.
