Faculty and staff at Robert J. Burch Elementary School partnered with Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone to collect socks for the Central Night Shelter, a ministry for homeless men sponsored by Central Presbyterian Church of Atlanta.

“In the upcoming cold winter months, a clean, warm pair of socks is a welcome luxury item to the men of this shelter,” according to a spokesperson for the collection drive.

Burch faculty and staff also collected coins to help provide healthy meals to those in need.

“The faculty of Burch Elementary is modeling for their students the character traits of compassion and generosity,” the spokesperson stated. “Burch Bears, big and small, believe that Aesop had it right: ‘No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.'”
