The All-Region football team was announced for Region 5-A and several local players made the list, topped off by Our Lady of Mercy’s Mike Earwood as Coach of the Year.

Landmark’s Lofton Tidwell was named Player of the Year and teammate Stockton McGuire was chosen as Athlete of the Year.

The first-team offense included OLM’s Bryce Griffin as an offensive lineman along with Steven Bedosky and Al Hogan of Landmark. Joey Blount of Landmark was picked as one of the wide receivers with teammate Taylor Snyder at tight end.

On the other side of the ball the War Eagles placed five on the first team: defensive lineman Drew Anderson; linebackers Joshua Cobb and Camden Cusumano; and defensive backs Brandon Stone and Kyle Ferguson.

Defensive lineman Nick Hellams represented OLM on the first team, as did punt/kick returner Grant Walker.

The Georgia Volleyball Coaches Association named its Class A All-State team, led by Landmark’s Cameron Dobbs, who was named Player of the Year after her squad reached the state finals.

Dobbs was joined by two of her teammates on the 12-member All-State team: Betsy Burson and Alleigh Wettstein.

These players were recognized publicly Nov. 7 at the conclusion of the state senior all-star game at Holy Innocents’.

Landmark also had three players achieve all-region status in softball. AnnaLisa Chavez was named to the first team while Katelyn Lee and Madison Schmidlkofer made the second team.
