HS football season kicks off


High school football is back in Fayette County, as the 2015 regular season got underway earlier tonight.

The Sandy Creek Patriots obliterated Creekview 41-0 at McEachern High School in Cobb County, the first of this weekend’s Corky Kell Classic matchups.

The McIntosh Chiefs opened at home in winning fashion, 16-7 over the Fayette County Tigers.

The Landmark War Eagles traveled to Dalton and downed Christian Heritage 34-22 in their opener.

All other local teams will open their regular seasons next weekend.

The game lineup for Aug. 28 includes Starr’s Mill at Whitewater, McIntosh at Luella, Drew at Fayette County, Jonesboro at Sandy Creek, Arabia Mountain at East Coweta, Northgate at Shaw, Landmark at Lithia Springs, and Pace Academy at Our Lady of Mercy.
