The Griffin Choral Arts Chamber Choir will present a choral concert entitled “Illuminations: Darkness Into Light” Sunday, Aug. 16, at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Griffin (1349 Old Macon Hwy.).
The group is a 16-voice select ensemble founded and led by GCA Artistic Director Dr. Stephen J. Mulder. A variety of both sacred and secular music will explore the range of emotions associated with darkness and light, as well as the possibilities for discovering illumination even in the darkness. Featured works will include the Gloucester Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis by Herbert Howells, two Nocturnes by Morten Lauridsen, and other songs by Johannes Brahms, Camille Saint-Saëns, and Stephen Paulus. The choir will perform both a cappella and accompanied by piano, organ, and cello.
Tickets are $15 general admission (all ages) at the door or in advance (after Aug. 1) in Griffin at Artistic Flowers and Gifts, Safehouse Coffee Roasters, and First United Methodist Church, in Barnesville at Goggans Florist, and in Zebulon at A Novel Experience bookstore.
