State Rep. Matt Ramsey (R-Peachtree City) was named by House Speaker David Ralston to the House Study Committee on the Preservation of the HOPE Scholarship Program.

Other members include Reps. Chuck Martin (R-Alpharetta), Howard Maxwell (R-Dallas), John Meadows (R-Calhoun), Calvin Smyre (D-Columbus), Ron Stephens (R-Savannah) and Brian Strickland (R-McDonough).

This study committee is established by House Resolution 827 and will study how to preserve the HOPE Scholarship Program, particularly by exploring the creation of additional revenue sources such as the state taxation of casino gaming and pari-mutuel wagering on horse racing.
