Michael Weyman “Mike” Lathem, 64, of Woolsey (formerly of Atlanta) passed away the morning of Saturday, June 6, 2015.

Mike lived first and foremost for his family, and took his greatest pride in being a husband, father and Papa. He was happily retired after 37 years of service to Georgia Power. His domains were his garage, where he worked on his 1966 Chevelle, and his yard, which he kept immaculate. He was in his happy place when taking rides on his motorcycle or enjoying the beach in his signature sleeveless shirt, especially during his family’s annual summer trip to St. George Island. He loved a good laugh.

He was a beloved anchor of a great big tapestry of families, and he will be missed by many. He was preceded by his mother and father, Mildred and Ford Lathem, and sisters Joyce Morgan and Donna Barker. He is survived by his wife Judy Lathem; his son Brett (Britney) Lathem of Fayetteville; his daughters Stephanie (Robert) Ross, Kristi (Dennis) Connelly of Acworth, Kayla Brooks of Sharpsburg, Kelli and Klaire Brooks of Atlanta; sister Carolyn (Harold) Oglesby of Temple and many nieces and nephews. He adored his beloved grandchildren Kate, Jax, and Callie; Avery and Kara; and Evan, Noah, and Kaden.

Mike’s life was celebrated Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville Chapel, with Rev. Edward Lynch officiating.  Burial immediately followed the service at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville, Ga.  His family received friends Monday, June 8, 2015, from at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at choa.org.
