Foster recruitment event scheduled

A local church is hosting an event to raise awareness of the need for foster and adoptive parents.

“Children’s Lives Matter” is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, from noon until 4 p.m. at Heritage Park in downtown Fayetteville. It is being spearheaded by Heaven Bound Church in Fayetteville.

More than 14 private agencies will be on hand along with numerous local and surrounding counties’ DFACS representatives. There will be a forum with various city and county officials, as well as a live concert featuring many local churches and musical groups.

“We are urging all local and surrounding churches to come out and also participate in this event,” according to a statement from the event’s organizers. “Currently there are over 9,000 children in Georgia’s foster care system. We are pleading for churches to get involving this effort to open the necessary homes to give the children a place to call home.”
