This summer Barnes & Noble in Newnan has scheduled several events involving local writers.
Katie M. Stout, teen author of new release “Hello, I Love You,” will appear Friday, June 12, at 6 p.m. The book, called a “fun and fresh romantic novel in the vein of ‘Anna and the French Kiss,’” is about a teen who escapes to a boarding school abroad and falls for a Korean pop star. Stout, a Senoia native, will meet guests and sign copies of her teen debut.
New Writers Night is scheduled for Thursday, June 25, from 6-8 p.m. as authors from the community are invited to showcase their new titles. Genres range from fiction and memoir to inspiration and self-help. Authors include Dr. Tim Riordan, W. Terry Harrison, Lauren Mitchell, Tecia Farmer Janes, Natischa Harvey, LaTania Williams, Chase J. Jackson, Connie Singleton, John Clark McCall, Jr, Todd Grey, and Princess Gooden. The community is invited to meet this local talent and discover a new favorite author.
Thursday, June 18, is the night for a Page & Screen Discussion of “To Kill A Mockingbird.” The discussion comparing the classic novel to its screen version is being hosted in anticipation of the July release of Harper Lee’s “Go Set a Watchman.” The public is invited to come and discuss favorite parts of the book, scenes from the movie, famous quotes, or favorite characters.
A “To Kill A Mockingbird” read-a-thon is set for Monday, July 13, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. During that time the book will be read from start to finish by a variety of readers from the community including educators, customers, booksellers, local authors and celebrities. This event is planned for all Barnes & Noble stores and customers should contact their local store for details on how to participate as a reader.
