Lawrence White McIntosh, 81, of Peachtree City, Ga. was born August 3, 1934 in Hapeville, Ga. to the late Bobbie White McIntosh and Eddie McIntosh, he passed away May 9, 2015 Peachtree City, Ga.

He was raised, along with his brother Eddie, by his mother. He grew up in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. He graduated from Hapeville High School in 1952 where he lettered in basketball and football, attended and graduated with a BA from Davidson College in 1956. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity, a Captain in US Army Reserves (Ret.), and he received certificate from Harvard Business School in 1966.

Larry married Marjorie (Margie) McDuffie in October 1956. Larry then began his banking career at Citizens & Southern Bank of Atlanta in 1956 where he remained for the next 11 years. Following that, Larry held president and CEO positions at Jacksonville National Bank, First National Bank of St. Petersburg, and Community Bank of Seminole, Fla. 1975 Larry joined, as president and, later, chairman of the Board, Guaranty National Bank of Alexandria in Alexandria, La. He played an integral role in the acquisition of Guaranty by Hibernia Bank of New Orleans in the mid-80s. He remained in Louisiana with Hibernia living in Alexandria and Baton Rouge.

He led Hibernia’s first move into Texas by acquiring a small bank in Pflugerville, Texas and later a Dallas-based savings and loan. Larry and Margie moved to Dallas in 1995 to oversee Hibernia’s Texas operations. Larry retired from Hibernia during the summer of 1997. He and Margie moved back to the Atlanta area to be close to family. Throughout his career, Larry was active in the communities in which he lived and worked and was an avid volunteer for organizations including various Chambers of Commerce, St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, The Suncoasters, The United Way, Boys & Girls Clubs, Rotary and Optimist Clubs.

He is preceded in death by his wife Marjorie, his mother, father and brother.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence W. McIntosh, Jr. and Toni Rebouche McIntosh, and their children, Lawrence W. McIntosh III and Lela Francis McIntosh; his daughter and son-in-law Laura McIntosh Olree and Kevin Olree.

There will be a reception and visitation at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, 135 Senoia Rd., Peachtree City, Ga., on Friday, May 15, from 5-8 p.m. A reception and memorial service will also take place in Alexandria, La. on Thursday, July 16, 2015, time and place to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Boys and Girls Clubs of America, The American Cancer Society, or the cancer research organization of your choice.
