A day to honor our fallen service members

All are invited to observe Memorial Day at City Hall on May 25 at 9 a.m.

While we honor all of our nation’s fallen on this most solemn of days, this year’s ceremony brings the purpose of this holiday much closer to home. Peachtree City is blessed that many of its residents are veterans of all our nation’s services.

Further, the efforts of our local veteran organizations such as our local VFW Post 9949, American Legion Post 50, and our local Marine Corps League continue to distinguish themselves year after year with countless hours of volunteer service throughout our community.

Simply stated, where would we as a nation be without those who wore the uniform of our great nation?

This year, we celebrate the memory of two former Peachtree City residents, Sergeant First Class Shawn McCloskey and Lance Corporal Josh Issac, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in our nation’s military.

McCloskey was a Green Beret, Issac was a Marine, and Peachtree City and our nation as a whole are indeed honored to know men such as these.

We look forward to seeing you there.
