PTC cops issue update on gun-golf cart incident

The Peachtree City Police Department has issued an update on the April 18 off Ga. Highway 74 where a teenage male pointed what appeared to be a gun at two citizens.

Department spokesman Mark Brown said officers responded to the area of Lexington Pass and Kids R Kids at approximately 11:20 p.m. on April 18 in reference to a subject on a red golf cart that pointed what appeared to be a firearm at two citizens.  

“The report indicates that the citizens were entering Lexington Pass from Hwy. 74 around 11:10 p.m. and saw a red golf cart with one occupant enter the roadway in front of them,” said Brown.  

Brown said the golf cart was traveling very slow and just before reaching the next street of McWilliams Drive, the golf cart stopped.  

“The citizens did not know if the golf cart driver needed assistance and they stopped behind him,”Brown explained. “Immediately afterwards, the driver of the golf cart got out and pointed what appeared to be black pistol at the citizens who were still sitting in their vehicle.  The citizens reported that they were able to leave the area without further incident.”

Brown said the suspect is described as a white male, 13-15 years of age, 5′ 08″ to 5′ 09″ in height and weighing 120-130 pounds.

Brown said the investigation into the incident is ongoing, adding that extra patrols have been assigned to the area.
