Garrett Smithley of Peachtree City is making his NASCAR debut this weekend in the Camping World Truck Series in the #63 HEROBOX.org Chevy Silverado.

The race marks his return to Atlanta Motor Speedway, where the 22-year-old started his racing career behind the wheel of a Bandolero and then move on to Legend cars.

Not only is Smithley a local, his partner for the race, his partner for the race, HEROBOX.org, is also based in Peachtree City.

“It means so much to launch my NASCAR career right where it all started over seven years ago,” said Smithley. “Competing in my first Bandolero races on the 1/4 mile oval, I never dreamed I would have the chance to come home to Atlanta Motor Speedway for my first NASCAR Truck Series race. It’s all very surreal.”

Ryan Housley, CEO of HEROBOX.org, shared the excitement.

“HEROBOX.org is very proud to partner with Garrett Smithley as he makes his NASCAR debut in the Camping World Truck Series. Garrett is an avid supporter of our troops and we are honored to consider him an ambassador for our organization,” said Housley. “His support for us carrying our banners in the ARCA (Automobile Racing Club of America) series in prior years at Pocono International Raceway and Kentucky Speedway was just great. We hope many will join us in supporting Garrett and our organization as he raises awareness for our military veterans and troops in the #63 HEROBOX.org Chevrolet.”

Smithley kicked off his 2015 racing season by making his first start at Daytona International Speedway, driving the #10 Enduring Gratitude Ford in the ARCA Racing Series. Enduring Gratitude is another military veteran and active duty support organization based in North Carolina.

“Racing at Daytona was amazing, but now I have the opportunity to make my NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut at my home track,” said Smithley. “It’s even better that HEROBOX.org, a 501c3 non-profit organization supporting military programs based in my racing hometown, will be riding with us on the truck. All the stars aligned to make this weekend happen and I am just thrilled right now.”

In addition to HEROBOX.org appearing on Smithley’s #63 Mittler Brothers Chevy Silverado, he continues his growing associations with SegPay, MUVI/Veho, Enduring Gratitude and Zelk Visual Communications of Peachtree City.

“The truck will be presented in full military camouflage green to represent HEROBOX.org and all that they do to help serve this country’s active duty men and women as well as veterans of our armed forces” continued Smithley. “I am so proud and honored to be in a position to create awareness for such a worthy cause.”

HEROBOX.org will invite 15 veterans from the Atlanta area to the Atlanta Motor Speedway as their special VIP guests to see Garrett Smithley in action at the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race.
