The Suchon Quintet is making its U.S. tour debut at Spivey Hall with Clayton State University faculty pianist Michiko Otaki, who has been praised by “The Indianapolis Star” for her “assurance and gem-like brilliance.”

The performance is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 22, at 3 p.m.

Named for one of Slovakia’s most important twentieth century composers, Eugen Suchon, The Suchon Quintet consists of the leading wind players of the Slovak Sinfonietta. The ensemble was formed even before the orchestra’s existence, in the early 1960s while the musicians were still students. As the oldest chamber ensemble within the Sinfonietta, the wind quintet has performed many concerts throughout all of Slovakia, as well as abroad, has given concerts for children and young people, and has been heard throughout the world on radio recordings.

The quintet will display its virtuosity in a program including masterworks such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Quintet for Piano and Winds, E-flat major, K. 452; Francis Poulenc, Sextet for Piano and Wind Quintet, C major, Op. 100; and Eugen Suchon, Serenade for Wind Quintet, Op. 5.

Tickets are priced at $30 (with discounts for subscribers, groups, students and Georgia educators), and are available for purchase now.
