Allen Wayne Richards, beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away on February 7, 2015 at the age of 77.
He was born in Atlanta, Ga. on June 23, 1937 to the late Dana and Daisy Richards. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jean (Babb) Richards; sister Betty Richards Thompson and his brother Bobby Richards.
Wayne is survived by his son, Anthony Wayne Richards and wife Donna (Bedley) of Greensboro Ga.; grandchildren Leah and Trey Maughan of Murrell’s Inlet S.C.; Lyndsey and Daryl Matthews of Concord, Ga.; and Sarah and Saul Smith of Washington, Ga.; great grandchildren Peyton and Madison Maughan; Gracie Matthews and Baby Smith. Sister in law Doris Richards of Senoia, Ga.; brother in law Edward Thompson of Williamson, Ga.; several nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
After leaving high school, Wayne served in the United States Navy for several years before marrying Jean Babb, the love of his life in 1960 in Fayette county. He drove for Brown Transport and several other trucking companies throughout his career. He was considered a walking road map of the United States and Canada. Wayne, known as Pawpaw to many, loved watching movies, spending time with family and friends, and mostly spoiling his grandkids!
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the graveside of Holly Hill Memorial Park. Those wishing may sign the online guestbook at www.parrottfuneralhome.com.
