Future business leaders from Fayette County’s high schools will put their skills to the test as they go up against their peers from across Georgia at the annual DECA State Career and Development Conference later this month.

DECA is an international student association that prepares emerging business leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. It was previously known as Delta Epsilon Chi and Distributive Education Clubs of America.

The state conference will take place Feb. 26-28 in Atlanta. Students will compete among the best in the state in the competitive events program, and will also have the opportunity to participate in leadership workshops and trainings.

Students from Sandy Creek High and Whitewater High schools earned spots in the state tournament after placing first, second or third at the regional competition. Competitive events consist of a 100-question test and a role-play of case study, for which students are given 10 minutes to formulate a response before conducting the role-play in front of the judging panel.
