Opening reception September 17 at Trilith Studios celebrates the feeling behind the mark
FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (September 8, 2026). The Nexus, a curated creative community at Trilith Studios, will open its third art exhibition, The Return to Gesture: A Love Letter to Our Humanity, with a public reception on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 5 to 8 PM at Trilith Studios.
Curated by Leticia Andrade, the show gathers work from painters, photographers, sculptors, and mixed media artists across Fayette and Coweta counties, all in service of a single idea: the feeling behind the mark. In an age of instant images and generated content, The Return to Gesture celebrates the grief in a brushstroke, the joy in a line that goes somewhere unexpected, and the courage it takes to make something and call it yours. It is not a protest against the world we live in. It is a love letter to what has always been ours: the ability to feel deeply, and to make that feeling visible.
“This show is a love letter to something we don’t want to lose, the mark of a real human hand,” said Jason Bass, Founder and Curator of Community at The Nexus. “The Nexus has always been about creativity that happens in community rather than in isolation, and this exhibition is that belief made visible.”
Together, the works carry the unmistakable mark of a human presence. The exhibition reflects The Nexus’s broader mission as a gathering place for artists, entrepreneurs, and makers in the Fayette County area. Beyond the gallery, the space hosts a regular rhythm of community programming, from mindfulness mornings and open creative labs to Flip Side Fridays, an hour set aside for making something while a record plays start to finish.
“This show is about the humanity in the making, the feeling, the memory, and the unique way each artist sees the world,” said Leticia Andrade, curator of the exhibition. “The Return to Gesture is a celebration of art created by artists, holding the expression and individuality of each particular life.”
The opening reception is open to the community. Tickets are $25 per person, and Nexus members attend free. Tickets are available at https://thenexus.community/events/the-return-to-gesture/. The exhibition will remain on view at Trilith Studios through January 15, 2027.
