The “Southside Soirée,” a winter fundraising event for Southside Support, a nonprofit group that helps families of children with special needs, is set for Valentine’s Day in Peachtree City.

The soirée will feature a three-course meal, a comedian, live music, dancing, silent auction, and premium open bar. It begins at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Flat Creek Country Club, 100 Flat Creek Road in Peachtree City.

The silent auction items include home décor, fashion accessories, special trips, and spa items. Special artwork includes a Rembrandt lithograph and one-of-a-kind paintings from children helped by Southside Support.

Proceeds from the event will be used to enhance Southside’s online offerings and invest in restructuring its premiere product, Safe Space. The space is a hospitality tent that offers a sheltered and discreet place for families with all kinds of needs. It can be used for changing diapers, feeding needs, and reducing sensory overload.

Safe Space provides shelter for care and comfort so that special needs families can attend community events and gatherings. Some of the events that Safe Space traveled to last year included Taste of Fayetteville, Fayetteville Market Days, Movie Night, The Great Georgia Air Show, and the Senoia Social.

“Part of the proceeds will be dedicated into turning our Safe Space tent into a sturdier structure, such as a trailer or an RV,” said Southside Founder Raissa Chandler.

Tickets are $125 for individuals and $225 for couples. Purchase tickets online at http://southsidesoiree.com. Companies or individuals interested in participating in the event can learn more or make donations at the same website or by calling Jennifer Conforti at 404-823-7943.

Since its inception in 2011, Southside has helped provide resources and support for over 500 families in South Metro Atlanta, serving Fayette, Coweta, Henry, South Fulton, and Clayton Counties.
