While Spivey Hall patrons have enjoyed the jazz rhythms of pianist Danilo Pérez, bassist John Patitucci and drummer Brian Blade as members of saxophonist Wayne Shorter’s quartet, they will debut as a jazz trio at Spivey in February.
“Children of the Light: Danilo Pérez/John Patitucci/Brian Blade Trio” will debut on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 8:15 p.m.
They combine a large knowledge of music, experience, virtuosity and inexhaustible creative energy, and many music critics believe these three to be the most creative jazz band of today. The trio most recently headlined at the 30th edition of the Belgrade Jazz Festival.
“With John and Brian,” Pérez said, “it’s that language that we’ve developed playing with Wayne [Shorter] over the years that is indescribable. There’s a zero-gravity component to it, where things come out of nowhere.”
Tickets are $40 with discounts for subscribers, groups, students and Georgia educators, and are available for purchase now.
