As part of Spivey Hall’s Young People’s Concerts series, the Atlanta Flute Ensemble will perform on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 11:15 a.m.

Founded in 1986, the Atlanta Flute Ensemble is a volunteer community flute choir comprised of 15 members under the direction of fellow member Kathy Farmer.
With more than ten C flutes, as well as dedicated alto flutes, bass flutes, and piccolo players, the Atlanta Flute Ensemble can perform a variety of contemporary flute choir arrangements as well as classics by Beethoven and Mozart.

A frequent guest of Spivey’s Young People’s Concerts, the ensemble combines a diverse and beautiful repertoire with a demonstration of the engineering evolution of an instrument going back over 3,000 years.

The concert is geared for children in Kindergarten through eight grade, but all ages are welcome. Concerts cost just $2 in advance, $5 on the day of the concert, and are available for purchase now.

The young people’s concerts are 45-50 minutes long and designed for audience interaction. There will be study guides correlated to the curriculum (GPS and CCGPS) with a concentration on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics).
