Confused about golf cart decals and what is now required? Peachtree City has decals, Tyrone has decals, and Fayette County has decals for the first time this year. But some of the governments have reciprocal agreements and some don’t.

Hoping to clear up some of the confusion, Peachtree City officials recently released a golf cart primer to help cart owners figure out which decals they need.

Some golf cart owners will need to buy two decals.

Peachtree City residents: If you live within the city limits of Peachtree City and pay Peachtree City property taxes, all you need is the Peachtree City decal to use your cart on the authorized streets and paths in Peachtree City, Tyrone, Fayetteville, and Unincorporated Fayette County.

However, several neighborhoods along Redwine Road, Highway 74 S (south of Redwine), and Sumner Road have a Peachtree City Zip Code, but are not actually located in Peachtree City.
Payment of Peachtree City property taxes is the key.

Tyrone residents: If you live in the city limits of Tyrone and have a Tyrone decal, you can use your cart in Tyrone, Peachtree City, Fayetteville, and unincorporated Fayette County with the decal you have.

City of Fayetteville Residents: If you live in the city limits of Fayetteville and have a Fayetteville decal, you can also use your cart in Tyrone and Unincorporated Fayette County.

However, you will need to purchase the Peachtree City decal to use your cart in Peachtree City.

Residents of Unincorporated Fayette County/Brooks/Coweta, and others: You will need to obtain the new Fayette County decals to use your cart on the authorized streets and paths in Unincorporated Fayette County, Tyrone, and Fayetteville.

You will also need the Peachtree City decal to use your cart in Peachtree City.

Anyone who does not pay Peachtree City taxes, but needs a decal from the city will be required to pay the annual $60 “Outside City Limits” path user fee. The fee is assessed because those who do not live inside the do not pay taxes to help with the maintenance of the 90-mile network of paths.

Fee payment notices have been mailed to the out-of-city users who had Peachtree City decals in 2015.

Fayette County has also mailed letters to golf cart owners outside Peachtree City limits about the new county decals.
